sketchy.

Via Adweek. The sketches show one woman's perception of herself versus a stranger's perception.

I came across the latest installment of the Dove campaign on Adweek yesterday, and to me it is so powerful. Dove hired a criminal sketch artist to sketch women twice, once based upon a stranger's description of the woman and the second based upon the woman's description of herself. The results showed that the women's perceptions of themselves were astonishingly different than the strangers'. The work drives home the truth that women really don't see their true beauty like others do. It's an impactful take on Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty, and it is one that everyone, women particularly, should see.

The Great Gatsby

_____________________________

There are only five weeks that separate us from the premiere of The Great Gatsby, and I'm counting down every second. If you've been here since the beginning, you know that the Fitzgeralds are my first love, and The Great Gatsby is the favorite child. Everything about this movie seems to be beautiful and exquisite, and for the amount of time they've been perfecting it, it ought to be.
This new trailer is soooo good! Enjoy!

no man is an island.

Via..

"No man is an island, entire of itself."
I've heard God whisper this to me over and over this past week.

I've prided myself over the past several years that I was more independent than the vast majority of people I grew up around. I didn't have an allowance throughout college. I never expected ridiculously extravagant things. If I wanted something, I usually had to work for it and pay for it myself. Blah, blah, blah.
Can you hear the sound of my ego puffing?

God took this week to show me what was up. I knew something was coming. I've been bombarded over the past week with messages of letting Christ be your foundation and your Rock. The house built on sand will not withstand the storms. Lord, is that true. This week seemed like one thing after the other, and I hit a wall. Or maybe got smacked with a humble pie? This week, it turns out, was a big blessing. I was reminded that no man is an island unto himself. There really is no "self made man."

There are people who helped that man get to where he is.

I was so humbled this week by the amount of people, from family, to people who barely know me, to friends, who dropped what they were doing to move heaven and earth to help me. What a SWEET BLESSING to have a net of people who can catch you, especially when you didn't know they were there to begin with.

Thank the Lord for the people he places in our lives who show us His love, usually without even knowing it, and for the blessings we receive when our faith is firmly planted.
Praise to Him!

egg-stravagant.

With Easter fast approaching, one of my crafty best friends suggested that we should dye Easter eggs, and I started freaking out. I haven't had an excuse/person to do this with in YEARS, and it was always one of my favorite things to do when I was little. The wheels in my mind started spinning to all of the creative and unique ways to decorate eggs that I've seen on Pinterest, and I think we will have to try them out. In case you're also feelin' a little crafty, here's what I'm thinking.
